Biden the red is at the door of the White House with a manifesto similar to the 1936 Soviet Constitution! The American ruling class is shaking!
American political life can easily be summed up by this maxim: to the right, always further to the right. When a politician like Sanders tries to move the cursor slightly to the center to respond to the ever-increasing demands for equality of an American population asphyxiated by an establishment of unparalleled voracity, he is immediately labeled a bloodthirsty communist.
Thus Mark Levin, a fiercely anti-Communist Republican commentator who hates anything progressive, (because progress, as it’s well known, attacks the fundamental values of American society) protests that the Biden-Sanders ‘unity platform’ mimics the 1936 Soviet Constitution.
A recent Fox News article by Charles Creitz quotes Levin’s unhinged analysis as follows:
“The Democrats like to run on policies that are impractical and impossible, but they sound great. Where do they get this idea from? I’m looking at the 1936 Constitution of the Soviet Union; adopted in December of that year,”
We doubt that either Sanders or Biden had ever heard of the 1936 Soviet Constitution but that doesn’t stop the author from carrying on: “Levin begins before reading from several of the documents more than 100 “articles,” including one ensuring the right to a job for every Soviet citizen”
“The right to work is ensured by the socialist organization of the national economy. The steady growth of the productive forces of Soviet society, the elimination of the possibility of economic crises and the abolition of unemployment.” That sounds awful according to our commentator. Sanders, who has made a major breakthrough in American politics in recent years because of his progressive policies, could not be ignored either by the Republicans, who hate him ferociously, or by the Democrats, who have done everything possible to sabotage him. Still eager to recuperate the millions of votes he won during the primary, the pragmatic Biden decided to form an alliance with him, hence the birth of the “Unity platform”.
“The Biden-Sanders “unity platform” initiative, made public in July, represents an effort to bring together the more radical elements of the party – those who had supported Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist – along with Biden’s more centrist candidacy.
To compare this reformist manifesto, which in no way questions the possession by a minority of the means of production, with the democratic and revolutionary Soviet constitution of 1936, where it is stated in the first article “The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics is a socialist state of workers and peasants” is a very big stretch that Levin doesn’t hesitate to make.
Neither Trump nor Biden, who are currently running for the U.S. presidency, really care about the American people whose standard of living has been in free-fall for decades. Let’s hope that, to Levin’s dismay, a truly radical movement with a program as revolutionary as the Bolsheviks’ will emerge soon in the United States, because it is our common future that is at stake.
