Tribute Paid to Gaddafi in London!

This video is a tribute to Brother Muammar Gaddafi (Arabic: مُعَمَّر القَذَّافِي‎ Muʿammar al-Qaḏḏāfī; born in June 1942), who at a young age led the revolution to overthrow Libya’s ruling feudal monarch and pawn of US and Italian imperialism, King Idris.

At the head of the Libyan Arab Socialist Jamahiriya, he led his nation on a massive program of social, technical, and cultural development. It is no exaggeration to talk of Gaddafi’s Libya as a renaissance period for the people of this beautiful and cultured North African country. The Libyan people, in the 42 years of his leadership, rose from being literally the poorest on earth, to the wealthiest and most egalitarian in Africa.

As a result of his consistent anti-imperialist stance, NATO imperialism took the opportunity presented by real popular upheaval in Libya’s neighboring countries (the 2011 ‘Arab spring’ uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt) to launch a vicious and genocidal war to topple his government, and rob the Libyan people of their social gains, their real diplomatic and anti-imperialist influence and – of course – their mineral resources.

After a brutal 7 months of carpet bombing, day and night, which claimed the lives of 100,000 civilians, systematically targeted civilian infrastructure and destroyed entire cities, NATO’s paid agents were directed to corner the heroic anti-imperialist leader of the resistance, and Lynched him cruelly and publically on 20 October 2011.

Contrary to the vile assertions of the western media, He faced his executioners, vile mercenaries and unthinking tools of NATO imperialism as the proud defender of independent ant free Libya. He dies a heroes death, in battle, facing his enemies with steely resolve, and refusing to desert his post, his country and his people at the hour of greatest need.

In the words of Fidel Castro, Brother Gaddafi, in paying the ultimate price for defending Libya’s independence and freedom, “by resisting and not yielding to their [NATO’s] demands, has enter[ed] history as one of the great figures of the Arab nations”

Harpal Brar, Chairman of the CPGB-ML, addresses this well attended and spirited meeting of the Stalin Society in Central London to pay our respects to Brother Gaddafi.

A Libyan Londoner reflects on NATOs war on Libya

This young british libyan man talks of his awakening consciousness to the crimes of imperialism through his direct experience of NATO’s genocidal war on his country of origin, and the obliteration of his home town, and indeed his home, in Sirte where his parents are living, and from whom he has no news…

Death to NATO imperialism! Victory to the Green Libyan resistance!

PAIGC on Libya – All Africa will suffer from NATO's colonial and genocidal war!

Legendary Marxist-Leninist Liberation fighter, pan-Africanist and anti-imperialist Amilcar Cabral had the following to say on the nature of our fight against imperialism:

“I should just like to make one last point about solidarity between the international working class movement and our national liberation struggle. There are two alternatives: either we admit that there really is a struggle against imperialism which interests everybody, or we deny it. If, as would seem from all the evidence, imperialism exists and is trying simultaneously to dominate the working class in all the advanced countries and smother the national liberation movements in all the underdeveloped countries, then there is only one enemy against whom we are fighting. If we are fighting together, then I think the main aspect of our solidarity is extremely simple: it is to fight.”

Cabral died just 9 months before the party he founded – the PAIGC – liberated his homeland, Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde, from 500 years of Portugese Colonialism, bringing the downfall of the Potugese fascist junta in its wake.

He and his comrades from the PAIGC also played a vital part in the liberation of other (Particularly, but not exclusively, Portugese speaking) African nations. He was a founding member of MPLA (Angola) and the Portugese Communist Party, inter alia.

Comrade Teodora Ignacia Gomez, Womens’ activist, liberation fighter and comrade in arms of Cabral, features in this video interview, which is an exert from a longer interview she granted to comrades of the CPGB-ML on her recent visit to London.

She outlines the supportive relationship that Colonel Gaddafi’s Libya had fostered with Guinea Bissau, as so many other African Nations. Libya had tried to bring about sustainable infrastructural and agricultural development in Guinea Bissau, she tells us, both through the African Bank and independently granted aid.

As a result of NATOs genocidal war on Libya, and the illegal ousting of her legitimate government – and now Gaddafi’s cowardly and brutal assassination, which foul deed took place 24 hrs after this interview – the people of Guinea Bissau and all Africa will suffer, she says.

RT reports Saif al-Islam alive and well

Red Youth is happy to reproduce the following story which was reported by Russia Today 23.10.11:

“The son and heir apparent of the late Colonel Gaddafi, Saif al-Islam, is still in Libya. He is free and will go on with resistance, he reportedly claimed in an address to supporters aired by Syria’s Arrai TV Channel, loyal to the Libyan ex-leader.

“We continue our resistance. I am in Libya, I am alive, free and intend to go to the very end and exact revenge,”Russia’s “RIA Novosti” news agency quotes Saif al-Islam as saying on the Syrian Channel on Saturday night.

Earlier contradictory reports suggested Saif al-Islam Gaddafi has been either killed or captured in the western Libyan town of Zliten and was in the hands of the country’s National Transitional Council.

Egypt’s Nile TV Channel reported on Thursday, October 20, that he had managed to flee Sirte and find shelter in the desert.

According to RIA Novosti, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi has already got the support of the tribes loyal to his father, who promised to fight against the current government and take revenge for the killing of the colonel and his son Mutassim. Some experts now suggest the Libyan conflict could now be prolonged and grow from a political into an interethnic struggle.

Thirty-nine-year-old Saif al-Islam is the second son of Muammar Gaddafi and carried out public relations and diplomatic roles for his father. Western-educated and the most-recognized Libyan official, he was often viewed as Colonel’s successor and a possible reformer.”

The great October Revolution of 1917 is by far the most progressive event in human history.

It ushered in the era of the downfall of imperialism and the victory of proletarian revolution. Despite all reverses, this is the era we continue to live in; and with capitalist economic crisis again raging, there has never been a better time to revisit the lessons of October.

The history of almost the entire 20th century was shaped by the tremors set in motion by this gigantic earthquake in erstwhile tsarist Russia.

Defying all predictions, and in the teeth of bitter hostility on the part of the overthrown exploiting classes as well as of international imperialism, the Soviet proletariat went on to build a powerful socialist state and a powerful socialist economy, in which planned production to satisfy the constantly rising needs of the working masses replaced the anarchy of capitalist production, whose sole motive force is the production of ever increasing amounts of surplus value to satisfy the insatiable greed of a handful of exploiters.

By 1935, the USSR was the only country that had got rid of the scourge of unemployment, while the capitalist world saw the devastating waste of capitalist crisis; unemployment rates in US (and elsewhere) hit 25 percent. The only ‘way out’ for the imperialist nations (Britain, US, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, etc) was to drive the entire world to war, at the phenomenal cost of more than 60 million lives (in WW2 alone).

Such was the vitality and strength of the social system of the USSR that she made the single most important contribution to the defeat of the allegedly invincible Nazi war machine. The courage and heroism with which the Soviet soldier and civilian alike fought against fascism shall ever remain an eloquent tribute to the socialist system engendered by the October Revolution, as well as a source of pride to proletarians throughout the world.

By its earthshaking achievements in the field of socialist construction, the Soviet proletariat, for the first time, provided living proof of the assertion that the working class everywhere is not only capable of destroying the old but also of building the new.

The once mighty USSR finally collapsed in 1991 for reasons which cannot be gone into in a small leaflet. At the time of its collapse, the imperialist bourgeoisie triumphantly pronounced the end of communism, declaring that capitalism was the final stage in the long march of humanity.

Soviet workers were duped into believing that the restoration of capitalism in the Soviet Union would usher in an era of unlimited prosperity for them. But starvation disease, unemployment, wage arrears, homelessness and destitution have become the lot of the ordinary Russians and Soviet industry and wealth has been stolen by a handful of Russian mafiosi and their imperialist backers.

Capitalism has nothing to offer the Russian masses. Whatever the zigzags of history, the final victory of communism is inevitable, as is the demise of capitalist imperialism.

The CPGB-ML considers it extremely important to celebrate the anniversary of the glorious October Revolution and to declare that the bright future of humanity lies along the road of October. It declares further that communism (Marxism Leninism) is the ideology of the modern proletariat, which can no more be exterminated than can the proletariat itself.

Come and celebrate, and join with us in struggling to build a bright socialist future for Britain and the world.

Long live the Great October Revolution!

Long live communism!

If Gaddafi is indeed killed, he dies a martyr of the Libyan resistance

Red Youth takes this moment to reaffirm our solidarity with the Libyan people and our support for the brave fighters of Libya’s Jamahiriya. Brother Gaddafi has been declared dead a great many times since March, but should the latest news be true we are confident that the Libyan people will continue to overcome the occupation forces!

Whatever truth there is in today’s reports of the murder of Muammar Gaddafi, one thing is certain; if Gaddafi has been killed it was not the work of the Libyan people.

The first salvos in this imperialist war of aggression were fired by the French and British imperialists.  These despicable and cowardly attacks were followed by seven months of carpet bombing of Libyan cities, hitting and indeed targeting hospitals, schools and residential housing. The hope was that such brutality and an overwhelming show of force would frighten Libya’s citizens, cause panic in their ranks and cause them to abandon their independence and freedom. The last seven months prove that it did nothing of the sort. Contrary to their ongoing campaign of lies and misinformation (fed via Al-Jazeera, the BBC and other compliant imperialist media outlets) the NTC has no control over most of Libya, is too scared to move its headquarters to Tripoli and is riddled with infighting. The people of Libya rallied ever closer around Gaddafi and have fought a long and heroic struggle against imperialism and show no signs of stopping whatever happens.

There can be no justification for this Nazi terror that was unleashed by imperialism. Those on the ‘left’ who adopt positions which seek to ‘explain’ the reasons for this attack on mistakes made by Colonel Gaddafi in his ‘rapprochement’ with imperialism misunderstand the basics of diplomatic manoeuvring and seek cover for those opinions which they share with imperialism – namely that Gaddafi was a butcher, a despot, a dictator and somehow deserves to be ousted or murdered. They miss the whole point – imperialism cares not a jot about dictators and despots! Worse still the Trotskyist imperialist cheerleaders will tonight be celebrating another great victory for the working class just as they did in 1991! As the collapse of the Soviet Union was a disaster for the peoples of that nation, so too will it be a disaster should Libya fall completely under the grip of imperialism and their local contras. But we remain resolute in our conviction that the Libyan masses will do everything they can to prevent such a calamity!

With terror reigning down from the skies, imperialism organised, led and continues to direct a band of cut throat savages on the ground. This scum masquerading as ‘revolutionaries’ and ’freedom fighters’ have committed numerous lynchings, murders and all manner of crimes but the brave Libyan resistance fights on undeterred. If this scum have got their hands on Gaddafi then he dies a martyr – a martyr in the fight against imperialism, a champion of the oppressed peoples! The Libyan people will continue to push on, they are all too well aware of the future that awaits them if they succumb to colonial subjugation. As in Iraq and Afghanistan; imperialism lifts a rock only to drop it on its own feet – more heavy defeats will greet the aggressors in the near future.

Red Youth stands in solidarity with the Libyan resistance. We have been shown in seven months of courageous fighting that Libyan’s value their independence and freedom more than anything else – no force on earth can stop them if they are united against imperialism!

Victory to Gaddafi!

Death to imperialism!

CPGB-ML Chairman Harpal Brar reports on his visit to

Tens of thousands rally in support of Assad in Syria capital

The following is an excerpt from a report which appeared today courtesy of Reuters:

“Tens of thousands of Syrians demonstrated in central Damascus on Wednesday in show of support for President Bashar al-Assad, who is battling a six-month uprising against his rule in which the United Nations says 2,900 people have been killed.

“America, out, out, Syria will stay free,” chanted the crowd, many of them carrying pictures of Assad and Syrian flags. They also shouted slogans warning the European Union not to intervene in their country.”God, Syria and Bashar,” they sang.

State television described the government-backed rally as a “million-strong march … supporting national independence and rejecting foreign intervention.”

At the start of the demonstration a man holding the flags of Russia and China — which both vetoed a European-drafted resolution against Syria at the United Nations last week — flew over the crowd, suspended from a helicopter by rope.”

The time has come for those of us in the anti-imperialist movement to make sure that the lackey’s who lead the anti-war movement here in Britain are not allowed “to do a Libya”. The Syrian opposition has now formed a National Council, based in Istanbul. This body, together with the British-promoted Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, is now, in the wake of events in Libya, calling more stridently for NATO military intervention. Just as with the Benghazi contras in their first days, they had initially, and hypocritically, claimed to be opposed to foreign intervention, just long enough to suck in a few gullible people, and allow some of the pieces of the imperialist jigsaw to be fitted together. Now these traitors to their nation and people are loudly calling for the imposition of a ‘no fly zone’, the very mechanism that was cynically abused to launch a genocidal war against the people of Libya.

Clearly the threat to Syria is now grave. However, the Syrian government retains strong and broad support from the popular masses. It also has powerful regional support, for example from Iran, from Hizbullah in Lebanon and from the forces led by Muqtada al-Sadr in Iraq. As for NATO, any celebrations are premature, as the fire of Libyan resistance will, without doubt, shortly be burning beneath their feet more fiercely than ever.

Regrettably, one place from which neither the Syrian nor the Libyan people can expect any support is from the so-called leaders of Britain’s Stop the War Coalition, whose antics have long since passed from the cowardly to the treacherous. The main page of Stop the War’s website contains not a single reference to Syria. Perhaps, given their role over Libya, it is just as well. A new anti-imperialist and anti-war movement needs to be built in Britain, one that stands foursquare for the defeat of imperialism and for the victory of all those forces fighting against it.

Red Youth and the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) pledge every possible effort to build such a movement.

Hands off Syria!

Victory to Assad!

CPGB-ML bring Libya Solidarity to Anti-War Demo in London

Footage from Harpal at mass meeting in Tripoli (June), pledging to do our utmost to support the just anti-imperialist resistance and legitimate government of the Libyan people against NATO’s colonial war is cut with RT footage of CPGB-ML with green and party flags in London’s anti-war demonstration yesterday.

Stop the War’s leadership, meanwhile, continues to turn a blind eye to NATO’s imperialist war and perversely chimes in with the criminal propaganda of justifying regime change in Libya. They have taken the ‘bold’ step, not of attacking NATO, but of attacking members of the coalition – in particular the CPGB-ML – who support the Libyan government and it’s heroic resistance!
