On 21 April, the Washington Post published an opinion: “The Castros are finally gone. The U.S. should end the Cuba embargo and open the gates.” The opinion, penned by Kathleen Parker, fairly drools at the prospect (a prospect that is only an invention of imperialism’s own misguided hopes) of getting US companies and goods into Cuba to ravage the Marxist island state and its people. Under capitalism, ‘individual liberty’ is an illusion for all but the super-rich
“Extra! Extra! Socialist dystopia to follow Covid 19, in a new world order great reset!”… “Stasi State to usher in the dawn of Covid Crisis”
Or so run the bourgeois ‘free press’ or free market run press, as it should be labelled.
From the Telegraph, to the Mail, to the Guardian, all media fingers have been pointing to socialist countries such as Cuba and China as to what Britain should not become in the aftermath of this crisis, despite their superb management of Covid 19 and low death rate compared to capitalist countries such as the U.S.A and Britain.
The lies, the slander, the typical spiel of hypocritical finger pointing is nothing new in Britain. As a matter of fact, as far back as 1915 socialist hero Robert Tressell was pointing out the effectiveness of capitalist media on the working class in his novel ‘The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists”. Socialised healthcare or private pharma barbarism, that is the question
Trump: “I consider myself, in a way, a wartime president. This is a war we are waging; this is a very, very difficult situation. “
Merkel: “The situation is serious and the outcome is open”
Macron: “We are at war. In a war for public health of course, but the enemy is there, invisible, inconceivable. France has never made such a decision in peacetime. “
War sermons are a common choice for the ruling class in describing the difficulty of the situation but also in preparing the people to welcome the new harsh anti-labour measures. In all capitalist countries, developed and underdeveloped, confessions are raining down: health systems are collapsing.
